HISTORIC VICTORY FOR THE LABOUR PARTY IN THABAZIMBI BI-ELECTION

MEDIA RELEASE
2024-12-05

The Labour Party of South Africa is thrilled to announce an unprecedented and historic victory in the recent bi-elections, held on December 4, 2023, in Thabazimbi. For the first time, we proudly contested these elections, having previously been denied a place on the ballot in the May elections. Against all odds, the Labour Party has emerged victorious, claiming one of the most strategic wards in Thabazimbi, Ward 3, which includes Smasha Block, alongside one proportional representation seat. This remarkable win marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Thabazimbi, unseating the ruling African National Congress (ANC) that has dominated this municipality since the local government dispensation.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the people of Thabazimbi for their courageous display of appetite for change. Your voices have been heard loud and clear, and your choice to support the Labour Party demonstrates a collective desire to improve your lives and communities. This victory represents not just a shift in power, but a beacon of hope for residents looking for real and effective solutions to local
challenges.

As we look towards the 2026 Local Government Elections, we encourage all South Africans to rally behind the Labour Party. Together, we can pave the way for a much- desired change in our communities, emphasizing the importance of policies that resonate with the needs and aspirations of our citizens. Our collective aim is to foster environments where every individual can thrive, and it starts with your support.

This victory would not have been possible without the tireless dedication of our volunteers and supporters. Your commitment to our campaign, your passion for this cause, and your unwavering belief in a better future have been instrumental in making this historic triumph a reality. We extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who knocked on doors, engaged with voters, and shared our
message of hope and change.

Let us continue to work together, standing united for a better tomorrow. Our journey has just begun, and with your support, we will drive the change that South Africa so urgently needs.
